Separately, the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party, led by Gazment Bardhi, has submitted a detailed report to diplomatic missions in Tirana outlining “the systematic dismantling of democatic mechanisms”.
The report cites repeated refusals by the ruling majority to allow opposition-led investigative committees, parliamentary debates, interpellations, and access to official information over the past six months.
It also raises concerns over the opposition’s exclusion from key processes, including EU integration discussions and appointments to independent institutions, as well as the alleged failure to implement Constitutional Court decisions.
“The majority’s political stance—blocking every constitutional right of the opposition—has reduced parliamentary activity to a façade of normality,” the report states, warning that such practices undermine the basic standards of democratic governance.
The document concludes that a country seeking EU membership while violating core parliamentary norms risks presenting only “a propaganda of false normality” rather than a functioning democracy.
